Co-benefits of climate mitigation: Counting statistical lives or
life-years?

This article tells the reader about mortality of pollution in USA. In an air pollution scenario with a one year chronic exposure
increase of 10 ugPM2.5/m3, and on basis of a WHO consensus
estimate with a mortality risk ratio at 1.06, the article finds that
about 100 of 100,000 individuals aged above 30 will suffer pre-
mature mortality. The exact number will depend on assumptions
about the incurred latency period from exposure to effect, but for
a distributed lag structure with an average close to 5 years, the
weighted average of men and women is 92.
