This article is about evaluation and observation of spelling error. From this article I can get the special method for correcting spelling error and the advantages of it. The advantages of the methode that we can get from this article are ; (1) it automatically creates spelling error correction models adapted to a specified mother tongue; (2) all it requires is a raw learner corpus; (3) it is stronger to the sound in learner English.
This article also presented the result of an investigation about characteristics of spelling error in English learner by using the method from the article, and it showed that the spelling error model was useful for analyzing them. The investigation and the performance evaluation revealed the following results :
1.       A spelling error tends to have the same or a similar meaning as its correct form, and thus the two appear in a semantic space.
2.       Given a set of target texts, a spelling error is almost always corrected to the identical correct spelling form.
3.        The adaptation to the writer’s mother tongue is necessary from the viewpoints of both correction performance and feedback for learners.
In the end of this paper it showed that there are a web that will facilitate the development of spellcheckers and their characteristics to be further investigated.
This information is very helpful for me and others that is studying about English, it gave us a solution to solve our problem about spelling. Because spelling is also very important for learners, if we can not spell words well, it can be a problem for us in pronunciation. If our pronunciation is not good and not understandable, how can we communicate with others? It can be a miss-communication.
