This novel is about a story of Marcel, a French mouse that lived in the beautiful old boat in Paris.  One night, he saw two men standing next to him. They were talking about an opera star, Miss Zaza Duppon and her diamond –the white star. They were going to steal it from Zaza Duppon. Marcel did not like what the men were going to do, so he followed the men went in to the train. After he arrived at the station,he lost the men. He found an old mouse and asked him about Zaza Duppon’s address, but when he arrived at her house, he was late. The men had stolen the white star.

Afterwards, he looked for the men and found them stealing a car. He jumped to the car and sat on the number-plate when the car started to move. The ran very fast across Paris. After half of an our, the car stopped next to a cafe. The men got in to the cafe and Marcel followed them in one corner there is a woman, and the men sat at her table. Marcel sat under the table and listened to them.  The woman asked the diamond to the men. And the men shew it to her.

Suddenly, Marcel bite the tall man’s leg very hard. The man throw the diamond to the floor. Marcel put it to his neck and ran so fast leaving the cafe. The people in the cafe tried to stop him but they could not. After 10 minutes he stopped. There was no one followed him, but he did not know where he is.  Then he looked around and find a big white church. He knew where he is and walked back to Zaza Duppon’s house.  He tried to pull the diamond from his neck but  he could not. Then he used soap to make it easier. After that, he put the diamond on the table between two bottles of perfume.

In the morning, Zaza Duppon wondered about the diamond. How could it be at the table since the thieves had stolen it from her on last night. She thought about it again and again, but she still did not find the answer.

Next day, Zaza story is in all the newspapers, and there are a lot of her photos with the diamond every where. She looked very happy in all of them. Marcel was happy too. Back on his boat he read the newspaper stories. The he looked at the mirror, there was a thin red line on his neck.  After that, he washed, had breakfast and opened the window. That was beautiful warm morning.  He looked up at the blue sky and smiled. He thought about what’s going to be at that day.

I completely like this story. Actually I really do not like mice. They are dirty and disgusting. But, Marcel is different. He is kind and smart. He also clean and nice. I hope all of the mice could be like Marcel.
