This story is about a black man named dave. He was a slave on a farm inTennessee.. one day he saw 2 of his
master's boys aboard shouting as they would fall into the water and die. dave
could have killed his master's son, because he had been slaved by his master.
but he does not do that, he even tells his master that his son will fall into
the river. and dave jumped in and saved the two children.
but dave has not gained the freedom when he saved his
master's sons. he must still work in the field. if he does all that then he
will get his freedom. dave continued to work hard that year, until he got his
freedom as a black slave. he was already free from slavery but he was not as
free as a white man.
From this story I learned that we are not free when
others say who we really are. We have people who walk around like slaves
because they let others tell them who they are. I learned from dave, that when
others do not accept you and do not see where you are, but he persists and
keeps walking with the truth in his heart. so .. Keep walking when we know
we're right. No matter what people shout about us, keep on walking with your
truth.
