"Turkey takes over biggest newspaper "
The protesters protested the takeover of Turkey's best-selling newspaper, Zaman, by the Turkish government. Zaman once supported President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but later became a great critic. Authorities say Zaman has links with a Muslim cleric, who, according to the government, is planning a coup to remove President Erdogan.
The Expropriation of the Age makes Europe worried about Turkey joining the European Union. The German Foreign Affairs Committee said the violence against critical newspapers and the fact that the government took over the whole paper was a severe blow against press freedom. British newspaper Zaman said, There is no legal regulation left in Turkey.
