141st free reading : Whale Watching in Kaikoura

Kaikoura is a small town on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The waters off the coast of Kaikoura are so rich in food that some types of whales live there for months of the year. Other whales swim to shore from the cold waters of the south to give birth and raise their children in warmer waters to the north. They pass through Kaikoura on the road. Whale watching tours run throughout the year and although there are a number of companies that run several tours every day, it is best to buy tickets first so you do not miss out. You can go whale watching on a boat or fly over water with a small plane.
