Sun Erupts With Significant Flare

Solar flares are powerful bursts of harmful radiation, and it cannot pass through Earth's atmosphere to physically affect humans on the ground. But it can disturb the atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel when intense enough. NASA's Solar Dynamics snapped The sun emitted a significant solar flare, peaking at 12:06 p.m. EDT on Sept. 10, 2017.
