The most common bananas in the world, Cavendish, can die. This is caused by a disease called TP4 (this disease stops the banana from getting water). The disease rapidly spread throughout Asia and Africa brought by wind, water, cars and humans.

The farmers say that this is now in trouble. TP4 remains on the ground for a long time, so new plants can not grow. We can grow GM bananas, diseases like TP4 can not kill them.
