This novel tells the readers about a girl who have cancer. Her name is Hazel. She tries to be strong day by day. Until her mom asked her to live in Support group or special home for cancer.
She is a survivor of cancer that makes his lungs unable to walk normally.
Although in the beginning she rejected, finally, she want to go. Because he remember her cancer.
When she was at the support group, he met a boy who names is August.
This way is cause hazel and august have a relationship, they have a same hobby. It is reading novels.
Until one day august gave a novel to hazel the tittle is An Imperial Affliction.
The book does have a very hanging ending. Out of curiosity, Augustus made a plan for Hazel to contact the author of his book via email. In the morning, Hazel gets an email reply which is an invitation so he can go to Amsterdam to discuss the end of his book.
With a difficult struggle, they can finally go to Amsterdam accompanied by Mrs. Hazel. In Amsterdam, Hazel and Augustus has an unforgettable experience. They get a beautiful and romantic moment there. But all changed when they met Peter Van Houten. Peter Van Houten who is an alcoholic does not respond well to all Hazel's questions.
The next day, Augustus spoke to Hazel about his illness. He said that the cancer again attacked his body. This is bad news before their return to America. Arriving in America, Augustus immediately took treatment for his cancer and realized that he did not have much time again. At the last August passed away.
Beberapa hari setelah pemakaman, Isaac memberitahu Hazel bahwa Augustus pernah menulis sesuatu sebelum dia meninggal. Hazel akhirnya berusaha untuk mencari tulisan terakhir Augustus, dia berharap itu merupakan alternatif dari akhir kisah An Imperial Affliction yang sangat dia inginkan.
