HEART OF DARKNESS –
Joseph Conrad
Heart of Darkness appeared in 1899, a novel by Joseph Conrad
novelist, about a trip down the Congo River to the Congo Free State, in the
heart of Africa, with the narrative narrative of Marlow. Marlow tells his story
as anchored on the River Thames, London, England on a boat. The arrangement of
this story provides the framework for Marlow's story for his obsession with the
ivory trader Kurtz, allowing Conrad to create a parallel between London and
Africa as a place of darkness.
Reading a book that has a few pages and chapter turns out to take longer. Joseph Conrad's writing style which seems to combine the use of words that are "poetic", or as i put it: contains a long expression but has a bit of what it really means. I often find sentences that are difficult to understand because using a unique master or even too difficult for me. I also have difficulty finding other difficulties when reading. When reading i am sometimes confused, who was speaking at the time because the turn of scenes between Marlow and Kurtz did not seem clear.
