24. Tom Sawyer and the Fence - By ESL Garden

tells of a 12 year old boy with a great job. One morning, he had to paint a 90-foot fence. It was a very hot day, and he could hear everyone in the neighborhood talking and laughing. He put a brush on paint and painted some fences. Then he did it again. And again.
Tom thought of all the fun things he could do. He thinks about swimming, or climbing trees. That's when, Tom's friend, Jim passed by. He was carrying a bag of groceries. He started painting again, but he got bored. Then he heard his friend Ben Rogers walking down the street. Ben pretends to be an airplane. He made the sound of airplanes and ran around the street. After a while, he approached Tom.Tom pretending to be sad, but he was happy. While Ben painted, Tom ate his candy and searched for more children. There are many children in the neighborhood. They came to laugh at the work, but they still painted the fence. A few hours later Tom brought an apple, a broken watch, a small radio, a baseball cap and an old soccer ball. By late afternoon, the children painted the entire fence.
