Free Reading "Earth has lost half its trees because of humans" (89th)

Scientists think we have 400 billion trees, but we have three trillion. This means we have 7x more trees than we thought. This is very good news, because for everyone who lives today, there are 420 trees.
However, a researcher says these numbers are not good or bad news. The bad news is we once had six trillion trees. Europe was once a giant forest, but now it is a field and a city. As many as 15 billion other trees are lost each year, this happened more than 100 years ago. Researchers say that we should do more to make forests healthy again.
