Why Do Children Go To School
From the story I read, a poll conducted in the United States shows that there are many opinions about why children go to school. The poll was called 'Public Attitudes Toward a Public School'. Only 45 percent of people who took part in the poll said that the main goal of the school is to prepare students to pass the exam. About a quarter of people say that the main goal is to get children ready to join the workforce. More than 26 percent of Americans believe that the biggest reason for schools is to teach children about citizenship.
Joshua Starr, said the poll was questioning whether today's schools are doing the right thing. Lyndon Bailey, also said that the school, "just to make poor children into working robots and make rich people richer".
