Book12 The Death of The Heart "174"

By Elizabeth Bowen

The Death of the Heart tells the story of the young and naive Portia Quayne who lived in London in the 1930s. The story begins with Anna, Portia's half-brother's wife, Thomas. Anna does not like Portia's observation of life.
and then after I read, I love this cheerful part. When Portia fell in love with her friend Anna Eddie. She approached him by taking her out for a walk, sending her letters, reading her diary, and even visiting her at Seale. The girl always had good intentions in mind. She wanted to marry Eddie the man Anna approved, and to please her brother. When she was told by Mr. Miller that Anna had read her diary, she realized the desire to be part of the Thomas family would never come true. Love doesn't have to have. I've read the quote that I think is very sincere "I'm happy to see him happy with the others even though I love him" and lying words are the last sentence.
