Data collected from reading comprehension texts were analyzed statistically and the results showed that the experimental group students slightly outperform control group students. The study concludes that significant results can be achieved if metacognitive strategies because pre-reading activities are integrated more frequently into reading lessons.
Reading is one of the basic skills that every learned person needs to reach a sufficiently large level
in their mother tongue and their second language or foreign language.
Overall, these metacognitive activities motivate learners or improve their critical thinking skills, but for
Significant results in reading comprehension, they must be integrated into teaching on a regular basis. Other than that, various activities should be improved so as not to be monotonous. To increase its usefulness, metacognitive activities should be applied in teaching other skills such as  listening or writing Because all skills affect each other.
The main point is to create and build metacognitive thinking skills in the minds of learners and learners can be motivated to read texts.
