One researcher said: "Pollution, poverty, poor health, and social injustice are closely related." He added: "Pollution threatens human rights, such as the right to life." He said air pollution is the biggest killer. This resulted in 6.5 million premature deaths. The second largest killer is water pollution. The next biggest killer is pollution in the workplace. A scientist says: "Air pollution has reached a critical point." He said that the worst-hit people are those with respiratory and lung problems, children and the elderly.
