There is a relationship between reading motivation and reading achievement on the selected reading. For this purpose, 114 new students are enrolled in Teaching English
the department of a major state university in Turkey took part in the study. Data is collected through a foreign language scale
reading attitudes and motivations, and reading comprehension tests. As a result, statistical analysis indicates that learners will be more motivated to read in English because of the usefulness of the language in the text, and by the value of extrinsic utility to read, the intrinsic value of reading and reading skills of each. In other words, the participants prefer to read English texts mostly because they are in business the development of their language opens up their own pleasure.
