A study aimed at finding out the relationship between speaking grades and listening grades of university level preparatory students. This research was conducted on the students of electrical, mechanical and technical techniques from level A1 / A2. Students are given formal written tests in a listening course that includes a two minute listening script and
understanding questions in the form of multiple choice and filling in empty exercises, and oral spoken exams that enable students to think about a topic for a minute and talk for two minutes. The result is that both things are actually related to each other, but there are several factors that make their relationship weak. The factors are:
1. Anxiety, students are more anxious when talking than when listening.
2. Speaking burdened them to produce their understanding of something, while listening to them only do the understanding.
3. Speaking is an active activity because it deals with communication, while listening is a passive activity.
