In this story within a country of Zealand. Education in New Zealand is required between the ages of six and sixteen. This means that all children of that age should attend school. Most children start their school at the age of five. This period covers primary and secondary education and is free until the age of 19. Prior to this, many children attend an early childhood center, and afterwards high school students may proceed to universities, technical institutions or other tertiary educational forms.
Childhood covers the period from birth to six years and may include care and education. There are various options such as play center and kindergarten. Kindergarten is a German word meaning children's park. Most centers are taught in English Tertiary education means education or training conducted after high school. In New Zealand this includes 8 universities, 30 technical institutes and colleges, and about 1,000 private or industrial industry training institutions. All educational facilities are controlled by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority which guarantees the quality of the education program.
As New Zealand becomes more multicultural and welcomes more international students, the educational system adapts to meet the needs of different cultural groups.
