ANIMAL FARM – George Orwell
Narrated,
a pig who was honored at Farm Manor, the old Major, addressed the animals -
other animals. In his speech, the old Major invites the animals to rebel
against humans because humans have exploited and misused them. This impressive
speech is very influential. Even after the old Major died. The ideals of the
old Major are passed on by pigs also because pigs are considered the most
intelligent animals among the others. Of the pigs there are three most
prominent. Snowball is the most intelligent, then strong-character Napoleon and
Squealer are experts diplomacy. Once, their food rations were late given by the
workers at Manor's Old Manor Ranch. Their anger ignited, together, they
attacked Mr. Jones and his family and his workers. These humans are frightened
and they leave forcibly from the Ranch. Since then Manor Farm is controlled by
the animals and renamed the Animal Beast.
I learned a lot
through Animal Farm about the totalitarian regime that Orwell regretted. For
example, to take power, using military force is one of the most effective, most
effective propaganda to take sympathy is to make enemies together and lead
public opinion that the government is a protective figure of this enemy, and
certainly there are many other things.
After searching through several websites, I discovered the fact that this book was made by George Orwell as a form of satire criticism on the totalitarianism of the Soviet Union under Stalin's rule. As a follower of democratic socialism, George Orwell is suspicious of the ideology of stalinism that only enslaves society.
