This article studies the performance of spoonerism predicting the ability to read on Persian Language with a Purpose to test the possibility of a link between the ability to handle spoonerism and reading ability
students speak Persian monolingual.
Sample taken from Two hundred ninety-seven (151 boys) of monolingual Persian-speaking students from level 1-5 elementary school in Tehran undergoing Persian Language Reading and Persian Spoonerism Testing.
The findings of this study indicate that the phonological awareness assessed by PST [The Persian Spoonerism Test] is strongly associated with reading Persian language. Thus, different levels of reading ability, from word reading through part reading, may be predicted by PST. Thus, spoonerism can be considered
as an indicator for the development of reading skills and guidelines for remedial education of children with reading problems
