This article is about studying Short Stories in the Reading Skills Classroom.
many people know that using literature to teach languages ​​has several advantages such as giving better linguistic understanding, making creative, authentic language style in the literature by adding broader insights to the reader.
 The literature can be a short story. Short story it seems that the most suitable because it is short, and aims to give a 'single effect', there is usually a plot, some characters;
 Also, research on short stories in EFL classes states that they can provide increased motivation, increased interest in reading and improved reading ability.
From this study aims to find out the thoughts and attitudes of first year students at Bulent Ecevit University English Department of Language and Literature in the year 2015 - 2016 term fell.
Data Collected through questionnaires was analyzed using a frequency test. The results show that learning short stories has an amount benefits for students such as broadening their perspective, allowing them to think of reasons and not results, showing different lifestyles, increasing their appreciation of literature and making them read more short stories.
