The main characters are Kathy, Tommy, Ruth, and Hailsham. I am as a reader in a similar position. What Kathy does not know, I have to guess at. This about why we do not exploded, why we do not just wake up and go sobbing, and kicking everything to pieces out of the raw. And then completely personal sense of our live don't ever having been what they could have been.
