Rapidly proggessive cognitive impairment with neuropsycgiatric symptoms as the initial manifestion of status epilepticus.

Cognitive impairment is when a person has trouble remembering, learning new things, concentrating, or making decisions that affect their everyday life. Cognitive impairment ranges from mild to severe. Status epilepticus (SE) is a common, life-threatening neurologic disorder that is essentially an acute, prolonged epileptic crisis (see the image below). SE can represent an exacerbation of a preexisting seizure disorder, the initial manifestation of a seizure disorder, or an insult other than a seizure disorder. The primary symptoms of status epilepticus (SE) are unusually long seizures, or not regaining full consciousness between two or more seizures. Status epilepticus is defined as any seizure lasting more than 30 minutes. However, any seizure longer than 5 minutes is considered a sign of status epilepticus.
