Variation of Sweet Chemicals
in Different Ripening Stages of Wolfberry Fruits
To evaluate the variation of sweet chemicals (sugars and betaine) in fruits
of six species in genus
Lycium L. i.e.
Lycium truncatum, L.
cylindricum, L. dasystemum, L. dasystemum var.
rubricaulium, L.
chinense, and
L. barbarum harvested at three different ripening
stages. A large number of micronutrients and phytochemicals in this fruit have
been confirmed by scientific research. Wolfberry contains many phytochemicals including
polysaccharides, sterols and zeaxanthin, as well as antioxidants such as beta
carotene, lutein, lycopene, and vitamin C. In addition the red-colored
wolfberries are also rich in vitamin A. The retinoid content in vitamin A has
been shown to be effective against aging. Good for brain health. The berries of
wolfberry berry have been known to improve brain function and also seem to have
a preventive effect of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. And so many
benefits in wolfberry fruits.
