54th review

Here’s what actually happens to your body when you have a heart attack.

Cardiologist Dr. Luiza Petre explains that heart attack happens when one of the major arteries supplying the heart oxygen gets blocked. This impedes the delivery of vital nutrients and oxygen. When your cells no longer receive the energy they need, this causes a cascade of events, triggering the symptomps of a heart attack. The amount of damage to the heart muscle depends on the size of area supplied by the blocked artery and the time between injury and treatment.

Here are some other common symptoms to look out for:
1.       Pain in other areas of the body, including the arms, left shoulder, back, neck, jaw or stomach.
2.       Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
3.       Sweating or “cold sweat”
4.       Nausea or vomiting
5.       Light-headedness, dizziness, extreme weakness or anxiety

6.       Rapid or irregular heartbeats
