REVIEW OF TV is Bad for Children
Some of the positive effects of TV are as follows:
1. Helping the process of learning to read
Television and movies present the visual form of basically making it easier for children to recognize letters and visual appearance in the form of objects they do not yet know.
2. Is the glasses of the world around
TV can fulfill curiosity about everything around life either near or far.
3. Support in school lessons especially in the case of general knowledge
TV offers a lot of general knowledge that can support the lessons in school.
TV also has negative effects for children, namely:
1. Encourage the child to get and achieve something as soon as possible (instantly)
TV screen, everything goes fast. The style of television does require that speed. Everything is instantaneous. The counts in the television show are seconds. So, everything looks fast.
2. Encourage the child to underestimate the process
television strikes children with a variety of entertainment, events at certain moments, loved ones, all of which are gained without much effort. This encourages children to underestimate this process, and can even lead to a tendency to get things through a shortcut.
3. Less can distinguish fantasies from reality
Children's thinking skills are still very simple, allowing children tend to assume that anything on the television screen is something tangible.
4. Teach children violent behavior
Violent TV viewing that is often seen by children, it is feared will teach children the behavior of violence in everyday life.
Proportion of negative effects and positive TV for children of course is very dependent of the content of events on TV stations. If TV presents a lot of less educational events and merely entertainment, of course the negative effects become more prominent. Conversely, when more TV events are educational, of course the positive effects of TV become more prominent.
