Tension-type headache (TTH) is the most common headache in the general population. Neck muscles are tense and tender and pain in the shoulder muscles is a spoken complaint. Several studies have found that trapezius plays a major role in TTH and decreases strength capacity and decreases painful trapezius muscle activity by office workers with trapezius mystique is reported to occur.
Researchers have hypothesized that TTH patients had significantly reduced torque compared with healthy controls. The results show that the effect of trapezius muscle on TTH headache patients will not result in reduced torque in shoulder abduction. It also implies that TTH patients are not limited to shoulder use because trapezius pain and other mechanisms should be investigated.
