Genetic comes from the word gene. A gene is an extremely small part of a cell and cells are what all living matter is made of. Today scientists are able to genetically engineer all kinds of things . Many argue that genetic engineering is a good thing. Many people argue that genetic engineering is dangerous. But In 2001 an independent report was released by the New Zealand government which supported genetic engineering . The report stated that while there should be strict controls , genetic engineering could be developed for scientific and commercial purposes .
