This novel is about a story of man, Soapy. He lived in the street of Newyork. He liked sun and trees. Hi did not like buildings or houses or jobs. Soapy was a happy man for nine months of the year. But, when winter came, he would get a difficult time because he would feel cold.

Then, Soapy made plans for his living for the winter - the same plan that he had every year.  He would do bad things to get caught by policeman and  lived in a jail for three months, so he would not feel cold in the winter. He would also have food and bed for the winter.

Soapy thought about his plan. He would go to a good restaurant to eat some expensive food or some bars to drinks some expensive drink, but when he was asked for the payment, he would say that he did not have any money. Then, the owner of the restaurant or the bar will call the policeman and he will be caught. Soapy went to a restaurant but he was not allowed to come in, because the man at the door knew that he did not have money.

Then, Soapy thought about other plan. At that time, he walked to an expensive store and hit the window with a heavy bottle.A policeman and any people there heard that noise, and they were looking for the one who did it. Then, soapy told the policeman that he did it, but the policeman did not believe him. The policeman thought that the other man did it.

At  the evening, Soapy walked to a street with many theaters. He saw a lot of men an women in expensive dresses talking and smiling. Near the theater, Soapy saw a policeman. Suddenly, Soapy talked to an important person and act like that he knew the person. The policeman looked at him and told the man that Soapy was one of the theater student and it was just a joke. Soapy was very angry and unhappy. How can he got in to a jail if no policeman caught him. Then, he walked down the street again and stole a pen from a man. The man asked him about the pen, and Soapy told him to call a policeman. But, the man did not do it because he also had a problem with policemen.  Then, he let Soapy to have the pen.

Soapy was going to sleep on the street again that day. He sat down and made a new plan. Maybe he could get a job, had some money , had a good apartment and good shoes and a lot of food. Maybe he was too old for the street. On the next day, he was going to find a job, so he would not feel cold at that winter. He was happy with his new plan. Suddenly, he heard someone talked to him. He was a policeman and asked him about his identity. Soapy told him all about himself. Then, the police man said that he would be caught and stay in a jail for three months.

This is a funny story. Soapy did many things to get caught by policemen but it did not work. But, when he did nothing, he was caught by a policeman. I like this story. It motivate me to get a good job, so I will not be like Soapy.
