This results suggest that BIA results in a significantly different estimation of the whole body and limb composition when compared to MRI and that MRI is useful to determine regional specificities in the limb composition. We found specific characterization in regional storage body fat of young healthy adults: there was a higher percentage of fat in the upper arm compared to the thigh in both men and women, and a higher percentage of fat in the limbs of women compared to men. Further studies are needed to elucidate the physiological and biological significance of these specific compositions.
