Scientist Change Plants 'Sunblock to Grow more Crops"

From the text I read about Biologists have been thinking of new ways to increase plant size by 20 percent. They genetically modify things in plants that are responsible for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is an important chemical reaction in which plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. It makes us breathe. Lead researcher Professor Stephen Long says his team genetically modifies the world's largest crops, such as rice, wheat, corn and soybeans. Scientists change the things that plants use to protect themselves from the most powerful sun damage. Plants change their energy to heat when it becomes too hot. However, plants do this even when the clouds block the Sun. Professor Long says if he can get 20 percent more food from food crops, it will reduce food supply pressure in the future.
