THE PEARL - JOHN STEINBECK
Once upon a time, there was a family who lived in a small
beach near La Paz. They lived peacefully. They were Kino with his wife Juana
and their beloved son Coyotito.
The sun was warming the brush house, breaking through its crevices
in long streaks. And one of the streaks fell on the hanging box where Coyotito
lay, and on the ropes that held it.
In one morning something happened, a disaster in the form of
a scorpion that stung their baby. Seeing that, Juana immediately lift her son
who screamed in pain and sucked the sting mark on the little boy's shoulder. They went to the doctor, but he didn’t want to treat their
son because they had no money. With a adolescent step walk the little family back to the
village still followed its faithful neighbors.
Kino dived between the rocks and the rocks, he saw a huge
oyster lying alone covered by sand and sea plants. Kino then picked it up and
took it to the top of the canoe.
Because of the pearl there are a lot of problems came to
them. Their house was burnt, the canoe was broken even their son passed away.
Then, Kino decided to throw it to the sea.
The rhythm of
beauty of the giant pearls
disappeared into the ocean, and now all that remainded was a heart-wrenching melody.
