"The role of Individual differences in L2 writing"

The impact of individual differences on the process of writing a second language and written products has become an abandoned research area although the role of individual differences in the second language (L2) has been widely studied. This article reviews and discusses the factors of individual differences on how L2 students exploit the learning potential of language from writing texts.
First, the role of cognitive factors will be explored, and new research investigating the relationship between performance and writing and work abilities, and phonological short memories, will be presented.
Furthermore, the potential role of motivation factors, such as language learning goals, self-efficiency beliefs, and self-regulatory capacities affecting the psycholinguistic mechanisms of L2 writing and how students learn about target languages ​​through writing, will be explored.
