This article is about a study that examined the effectiveness of authentic animated cartoons in teaching English to young Turkish learners. The Researcher made 2 groups of young learners that contains of 15 students in every group, that are control group and experimental group. In order to find out the significant effect of cartoons in grammar and vocabulary instruction to young learners, the researcher compared the performances of two groups. The overall results indicate that, at the beginning of the study, both of the groups performed poorly in the test; but at the end of the study the experimental group got a better result than the control group.
Based on the result of this study, it can be stated that teachers should create learning environments where children can get both aural and visual support in meaningful contexts. Meanwhile, authentic animated cartoons offer an invaluable way of contextualizing and introducing authentic language by providing audio-visual input. Further research should shed light on all aspects of the use of authentic animated cartoons in improving students’ language skills and aspects.
This is a very good article, I can get a new knowledge of the way of teaching. I can improve my class in the future with an interesting thing so my class will not be bored and the student will more enjoy and comfortable to learning the materials in my class.
