Title : Lexical bundles in L1 and L2 university student argumentative writing
The study conducted a comparison between L1-English and L1-china students who used lexical English and identified errors in student L2 writing. They compared the form and function of a set of four words. The results showed that L2 students not only used observations from L1 students, but also used different forms, structures and functions in writing. While the L1 writer bundle consists of mostly nouns and preposition phrases, L2 students used significantly more verb phrase slots (clauses). Most student mistakes are in the grammar.
