Two thousand years ago, Aristotle said the flat egg had a daughter inside and a round egg filled with a rooster. But he was wrong. A new study says that the egg shape depends on how well female birds fly. A professor says that he saw that birds have evolved to lay eggs that have different shapes. They are all different in shape, "everything from sparrow eggs to pointed sandpiper eggs". Professor and his team made formulas for different egg shapes. They saw 50,000 eggs from 1,400 different bird species. Hummingbirds lay eggs oval; owls lay round eggs; and seabirds lay the sharpest eggs.
