This story tells about the Tuatara. The tuatara is the
most ancient creature in the world. The tuatara lived on earth 220 million
years ago. Tuatara is an animal that can only be found in New Zealand. The word
Tuatara is a Maori word that means "pointing backwards", because it
is based on the Tuatara back which has a small dot line. The tuatara has a
fairly soft skin and is a cold-blooded animal. The tuatara can grow to 24
centimeters in length and can weigh more than 1 kilogram.
The tuatara make their house in a hole in the ground.
they look for food at night. they eat insects. Male tuatara is larger than
female tuatara. Female tuatara lay eggs every 4 years.
The Tuatara is currently not much left and can only be
found offshore in New Zealand. The Government of Zealand has established a
program to protect and conserve Tuatara because Tuatara is a national asset.
