From the article I read there are three
reasons for incorporating the history identified in relation to the social role
of history as a tool for analyzing social memory, altering social narratives
and by raising social awareness. This allows for a distinction between health
history and health history. This precedent of social role can be found in the
areas of feminist and postcolonial history, oral history and museums in the
field of health.
The reasons why historians and health care practitioners and previous researchers have never had a working relationship explored, as well as some factors to consider in order for such a relationship to work properly, including the need to recognize different languages, different understandings of the role of history, and potential lack of awareness of the health implications of historical work.
