Jakarta – Indonesia’s Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo have won Japan Open 2017 mixed doubles title after beating the home pairing Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko in the final at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Sunday.
Marcus and Kevin only need 30 seconds to end the match against the Japanese pairing 21-12, 21-15. Despite the home advantage, Inoue and Kaneko were being dominated by their opponents from the off.
The Japanese pair had tried to reduce the deficit and managed to make it 12-17 before Marcus and Kevin scored four more points to grab the first game 21-12.
In the second game, Inoue and Kaneko stepped up their game and closed down the gap at 5-8, 8-11 and 9-12. Nevertheless, the Indonesian pairing finished the game with 21-15.
The Japan Open 2017 title is Marcus and Kevin’s fourth in Super Series this year after All England, India Open and Malaysia Open.
