A Classroom Observation Tool For Scaffolding Reading Comprehension


An important goal of educational research is to know which teaching practices are effective in promoting student learning. To assess this practice requires adequate observational instruments. Existing observational schemes Understanding EFL reading in particular and language learning in general. Therefore, they developed a new instrument: the English Reading Comprehension Observation Protocol. The focus of the instrument is on the role of EFL teachers who help students to switch from learning to reading to reading to learn English.

The results of a generalization study, in which they describe the source of variance, show that most variance can be attributed to differences between teachers. This shows that the instrument has high reliability and can help teachers identify strength and space for development. The instrument is in the form of checklists and easy to use for professional development purposes.
